Windows 10 Update

back to overview

NanoFocus measuring systems using the Windows 7 operating system are not compatible with the upcoming Windows 10 update.

Windows alerts you to the automatic update to Windows 10 which will be available starting 29 July 2015.

We strongly urge you not to upgrade your system.

The update with Windows 10 may endanger the smooth operation of your measuring system – in the worst case leading to system failure.

Step-by-step: How to stop the Windows 10 Upgrade from downloading on your system

1. View installed updates

Enter "installed updates" in the search function of the start menu and select "View installed updates".

2. Locating Windows 10 Update (=KB3035583)

Enter (KB3035583) in the search box in the top right corner. The “Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583)" will be displayed as search result.

3. Uninstall Windows 10 Update and restart

Right-click on the update and select "uninstall". Restart the system to complete removal.

4. Open Windows Update and check for updates

After system restart, open "Windows Update". (This can equally be accessed using the search function in the start menu.)
Click on "Check for updates". In case KB3035583 no longer appears, the removal is complete.

5. Hide update (if necessary)

If KB3035583 still appears as an important or optional update, hide it by right clicking on it and selecting "Hide this update".

The update is removed. Hiding the update ensures that it no longer appears as an icon in the taskbar. (Should you want to restore the update at a later point in time, click on "restore hidden updates" in the interface.)
